Study for the Canadian citizenship test with answers you can trust.

Many citizenship apps still say “the Queen.” True North turns the official Discover Canada guide into 724 practice questions across all 11 chapters, each one checked by a person against the guide and explained in plain language.

Why this one

Built to be right, not just to be an app

Wrong and outdated answers are the single most common complaint about study apps for this test. Everything below exists to fix that.

Checked by a person

Every answer is grounded in the official Discover Canada guide and verified by hand, never AI-generated.

Honest about the guide

The real test scores to the published guide, so answers stay faithful to it, with an editor's note wherever it has drifted from today's Canada.

Private and offline

No account, no tracking, no data collected. The whole app runs on your device and makes no network calls.

One fair price

Free is complete, not crippled: you can prepare and pass without paying. Pro is one purchase, never a subscription.

The difference

Faithful to the guide, honest about what changed

Discover Canada has not been reissued in years, and parts of it now describe a country that has moved on. Most apps handle this one of two ways, and both of them cost you marks: they either repeat the guide with no comment, or they quietly “fix” answers to match today's news.

The real test still scores to the published guide. So an app that corrects the guide is an app that makes you answer wrongly. True North keeps the answer key faithful to the guide, and adds a short editor's note wherever reality has moved on, so you learn what the test scores and understand what actually changed.

The guide saysToday it is
Queen's BenchKing's Bench
NAFTACUSMA
An older count of ridings343 ridings

Two things work the other way, because the current fact is what the test scores: the Oath, which was officially updated to King Charles III, and your province's office-holders, which the guide never fixed. Those answers are kept current and verified before every release.

One purchase, for the part that is nerve-racking

Pro adds no questions, because the bank is already complete. It adds the tooling that tells you where you stand and what to do next.

A completed mock exam result showing the score and a breakdown by chapter

Unlimited timed mock exams

Instead of one a day. Sit as many as you want, whenever you want, in the run-up to the real test.

Weak-area drilling, showing the chapters that need the most work

Drilling on your weak areas

Spaced repetition targets exactly the questions you keep getting wrong, plus scheduled flashcards, so study time goes where it is needed.

The readiness score, summarising whether you are ready for the real test

A readiness score

One number that tells you whether you are actually ready, built from your recent results rather than from how much you have studied.

  • The complete reference. The full 87-date timeline and all 154 Who's Who profiles, each cross-linked to the questions that test it.
  • Province-specific packs. Your provincial capital, premier, lieutenant governor and representative: the part of the test that depends on where you live.

Questions

Straight answers

Is True North free?

Yes. The full question bank, all 724 questions across all 11 chapters, is free and never content-gated. You can prepare and pass without paying. Pro is an optional one-time purchase that adds unlimited mock exams, weak-area drilling, a readiness score and province packs.

Is Pro a subscription?

No. Pro is a single one-time purchase, and it is restorable on any device signed in to your Apple ID. There are no renewals. The App Store shows the exact price in your region.

Where do the questions come from?

Discover Canada, the official study guide the citizenship test is drawn from entirely. Every question names the part of the guide its answer comes from, so you can check any of them yourself.

Is any of the content AI-generated?

No. Every question, answer and explanation is written and checked by a person against the guide. That is the whole point of the app.

Why does an answer not match what I read in the news?

Because the real test scores to the published guide, even where the guide is now out of date. Changing those answers would make you fail. True North keeps the answer faithful to the guide and adds an editor's note explaining what changed. The exceptions are the Oath and your province's office-holders, where the current fact is the scored answer.

Does it work offline?

Entirely. The questions are bundled with the app, there are no network calls, no account to create, and no data is collected.

Which devices does it run on?

iPhone, iPad and Mac, as one universal app. It needs iOS 17 or later, or macOS 14 or later.

Is this an official government app?

No. True North is an independent study aid. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Government of Canada or Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), and it does not provide legal or immigration advice.
